| We stalked websites, we checked books out of the library, we talked to people, and we asked questions for years before we became English Bulldog owners. Now we are not saying that you need to do that, but I do recommend that you know what you are getting into...good and bad. Here are a few things to help.... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| English Bulldogs are EXPENSIVE! They just are, no matter how you try to rationalize it, they are expensive. The are expensive to buy and they are expensive to maintain. Be ready to pay anywhere from 1800.00 - 3500.00 for an English Bulldog puppy. Many Bulldogs do not come with full registrations for show or breeding so ALWAYS ask before purchasing one. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Why are bulldogs so expensive? Most English Bulldogs cannot breed on their own. So either sperm has to be bought and inserted, or if you have a male it has to be collected and inserted. All females should have a C-section. The first 2-3 weeks the puppies are alive they can not stay with their mother, therefore, you must get up every two hours and put the puppies on the mother to feed. They aspirate easily, so you have to watch for that and be ready to assist. It is really only safe for female bullies to have 3 litters because of the C-sections, therefore a good breeder will invest money in the female, get 3 litters out of her and have her spayed. Some may be able to have four, but please ask your vet first. |

| Most bullies are allergic to soy and corn. Therefore they need a very high quality food to ward off allergies and digestion problems. We feed only Canidae All Life Stages. With Tater and Tallulah we use about 30.00 of dog food every two weeks. They are 4 months and 3 months old. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Bullies can have many other health problems that can require large vet bills. There is eye problems, digestions problems, and hip problems. Hopefully this does not happen to your bully, but be prepared. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We owned Boxers for many years and would have told you there is no better dog than a good Boxer. I partially still believe that, but these two Bullies have brought so much joy into our home. Luckily neither one of them have had any health problems. We researched well, and asked many questions about the breeders before a deposit was made. It is VERY important that you trust the breeder you are buying from. Tater and Tallulah are HYSTERICAL. They are stubborn, lazy, fat and boy do they have gas! They also are cuddly, cute, and love you to death. Each one has their own personality, but neither is bad. They are WONDERFUL with our children and other pets. We have 2 other dogs, cats, chickens, and deer at our house all the time. They love them all. We worked very hard to teach them to use the stairs in our home, but we still stay close to make sure they do not fall. Many bullies can not and should not go up and down stairs. Luckily ours can. Their snorts and little noises are part of their personality and you get to know what they mean. At this point I can't ever see owning any other dogs than bullies. Their size is manageable, and much less day to day maintenance than any of our Boxers. That is what we were looking for. Crate training was the only way to go with these guys, I truly don't see how you could do it any other way.We had never crate trained before, but bullies almost demand it....they are very stubborn. I guess moral of the story is, they are great family dogs, they will love you unconditionally, but they do have things that you have to be willing to accept. Noises, snoring, gas, mobility, and stubborness. We were willing to accept these things and have LOVED every minute of it. (Well, sometimes in the middle of the night the gas I do not love.) But it goes with the territory. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| You are paying alot of money for your bully and you should be totally comfortable with the person they are coming from. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
